Honourable Silvia Makgone, (M. P.), the Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources accompanied by Mr Brent Eiseb, the Chairperson of Debmarine-Namdeb Foundation Board hosted by His Worship, the Mayor Hon. Cllr. B. Mckay launched the sea bird sanctuary in Lüderitz on the 18 November 2022. The investments valued at over N$ 10 million, will safeguard sea birds from potential hazards, such as oil spills and fish nets. The socioeconomic investment will benefit the community through, employment creation and increased tourism to the town. Furthermore, this sanctuary will enhance our pursuit of preserving biodiversity while playing our part in mitigating the impacts of climate change toward our bird life.
