The night filled with glitz and glamour when the town of Lüderitz came to a standstill; as the community and stakeholders congregated for the launch and fundraising for the 16th Annual Lüderitz Crayfish Festival, held at the Nest Hotel on the 03rd March 2023, attended by the Honorable Sylvia Magone [M.P.], Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources and the Honorable Aletha Fredericks, the ||Kharas Regional Governor as the guests of honor. This year’s festival is being hosted under the theme “The Ocean, Our Legacy” and during the pledging ceremony, the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival Trust raised Four Hundred and Fifty-Four Thousand One Hundred Namibian Dollars (N$ 454 100) with pledges coming mostly from the fishing fraternity, the guests of honor used this opportunity and implored stakeholders to support the Festival to ensure longevity and the continued socio-economic contribution toward the town and by extension the nation. The attendees were offered a glimpse into the historic timeline of the Festival, with entertainment exclusively from the artists of Lüderitz. The 16th Annual Lüderitz Crayfish Festival will be held during the 27th April till the 01st May 2023; and the town is expecting tourists from across the wide spectrum of the world in attendance.
