The town’s “Golden Girl” set her sights on competing at the world stage during the International Schools Sports Federation Games in Rio De Janero, Brazil being hosted from the 19th till the 21st August 2023; although starred by daunting financial resources, the determination of both Ms. Liezel Munyaza and the Lüderitz Secondary School of an appearance and comfortable competition didn’t deter them from pursuance. Approached for assistance the First Citizen of Lüderitz initiated a fundraising campaign that culminated in well over Thirty Thousand Namibian Dollars (N$ 30 000.00) being raised towards the coach Mr. Benedictus Botha and the “Golden Girl” for their journey to Brazil. The participating corporations are the (in no particular order) Lüderitz Crayfish Festival Trust; Seaflower Group of Companies; Kelp Blue; Novanam and the Lüderitz Mayoral Fund Trust, inclusive of individual contributions and pledges, gratitude is extended toward those that came on board, in ensuring that our “Golden Girl” get’s exposed to international competitions, resulting in her harnessing her skills as she aims for Olympic participation and glory.
