The Deputy Mayor, Her Worship, Hon. Cllr. Brigitte Fredericks echoed the sentiments of the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Hon. Erastus Uutoni [M.P.] (during the City of Windhoek Cooperation Agreement Signing Ceremony on the 07th September 2023 in Windhoek) that there is a worrying trend where Local Authorities lack capacity due to the appointments of unqualified persons and as such impacts service delivery leaving the residents deprived. The Deputy Mayor further indicated that, transformation through capacity development is key in changing the socio-economic landscape of the Council and town. The Lüderitz Town Council and the Namibia Institute of Public Administration and Management inked a five (5) year cooperation agreement, that aims at capacitating the staff of the Council through training and consultancy. This is done to enhance the skillset of the workforce through courses, workshops and seminars in the interest areas of the Council.
