INDIA DESIRES WORKING PARTNERSHIP WITH LTC

The push for globalization in the knowledge and digitally driven world, has welcomed a willing partner in an effort to acquire skills and in-depth insight into all thing’s commerce and social-development. Indian High Commissioner Mandarapu Subbarayudu, paid a courtesy call on His Worship, the Mayor Hon. Cllr. Phillippus A. Balhao on the 12 December 2023 at the Council Chambers, the meeting centered around possible areas of collaboration with both parties mooting a potential Memorandum of Understanding to give guidance to their intended partnership. His Worship, provided an update to the High Commissioner on the developments within the town-lands in preparation for the impending growth prospects both for the town and council, with emphasis on partnerships in the Vocational Training space being of utmost importance. The High Commissioner applauded the youthfulness, energy and enthusiasm displayed by the current crop of political leaders on the local authority level, as seen and encountered during the High Commissioner’s visits to Walvis Bay and Swakopmund and now in Lüderitz. The High Commissioner informed His Worship, during their engagement that, India has trained 1400 Namibian professionals through skills development and with 61 countries worldwide participating in this training, has offered Council to second staff to undergo training in India at the expense of the Indian government. India with a population of 1.4 Billion people, currently spends about (United States Dollars) US 200 Billion on imported energy and has decided to include renewable energy within their energy mix and targets generating 175 Gigawatts of green energy.
