Driven by the dedication to improve the quality of life of the communities within which they serve, coupled with developing high-quality water infrastructure; the Namibia Water Corporation Limited [NAMWATER] is geared towards ensuring that, growth is not stifled by a lack or absence of livelihood essentials. Water being a basic and humanitarian need, remains paramount for the advancement of socio-economic growth and development of any society. The Utility service provider’s scientists jetted into town on the 04 September 2024, to amongst others engage the Stakeholders of Council, and to assess the current and future water demand whilst looking at water supply options for the town in view of the impending industrial and population growth. The current water source will not be sufficient to cater for the envisaged townland expansion and thus the need to investigate, consult and explore sustainable alternatives in the early stages is of critical importance, considering that Namibia is one of the driest countries in the sub-Saharan Africa. The engagement concluded with identified milestones and further research and development that will be undertaken to provide a holistic view of the water supply situation within the town. Plans are currently underway to establish a secondary water terminal reservoir to address pressure issues for high lying areas within the town.
