A delegation from the Directorate of Social Welfare Service within the Ministry of Health and Social Services under the auspices of Ms. S. Jacobs descended upon the town of Lüderitz and engaged both the Chairperson of the Lüderitz Town Council His Worship, the Mayor Hon. Cllr. B. Mckay, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Lüderitz Town Council Mr. O. K. Shipanga; Mrs. Victoria Wilson, representing the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival Trust and the Management Committee of the Helping Hands Old Age Home, under the Chairpersonship of by Mrs. A. Bostander. The visiting delegation is in town to ascertain the eligibility of the Helping Hands Old Age Home to become a fully registered and compliant entity as per the regulating Act. Stakeholders that support the Old Age Home, equally were in attendance during the engagements, the participant’s noted how; the small-scale fishing entities that benefit from government quota’s do not plough back into the town and that they should assist the vulnerable members of society.
