The town of L\u00fcderitz is known for being the first in the country to house a commercial bank and will be the first yet again in Namibia, to introduce salmon farming to world, inclusive of local markets. A pioneering feat for the Southern Hemisphere, with projections of creating 600 full-time employment complimented by 1500 indirect employment opportunities. The Benguela Blue Aquafarming will at maturity produce 35\u2019000 tones of premium Atlantic salmon off the L\u00fcderitz coast, obtained through a hatchery and an offshore farm targeting both local and international markets. Officially launching the ground breaking of the facility; Vice President Her Excellency Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah indicated during her keynote address at the Old Power Station Auditorium on the 02 May 2024 that, \u2018we must consume what we produce\u2019, encouraging that this species enjoys local consumption as well, inclusive of thanking the investor for the trust placed in the country. The enterprise start-up was facilitated by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board and took 3 years to materialize, the facility is located in the industrial area housing other fisheries enterprises with access to the sea and is poised to change the socio-economic landscape of the town.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
