The dawn of July 2025 witnessed the ushering in of the newly appointed Governor of the ||Kharas Region Hon. Dawid Gertze. The Governor is in L\u00fcderitz on an official visit and made a stop at the L\u00fcderitz Council Chambers, where he was welcomed by the Deputy Mayor Hon. Cllr. Josephine Heita, Hon. Cllr. Brigitte Fredericks and Hon. Cllr. Johannes Abraham and the Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Otto K. Shipanga accompanied by Staff and development partners on the 12th August 2025. Council during this visit briefed the Governor on the town\u2019s readiness in terms of both its infill and densification, the utilization of the Government allocated 91 million Namibian Dollars and the townlands expansion process, accompanied by a presentation by the GIZ Namibia-ILA Project on the integrated urban development for L\u00fcderitz and Aus. The Governor urged those in attendance to put aside petty and personal politics and that the current work underway should be done with future generations in mind. He further applauded Council and its development partners for having applied their thought process meticulously and reminded all, that the aspirations and hopes of the masses should be kept alive. The Governor concluded with stating that, he is well informed and encouraged and that he remains committed to L\u00fcderitz and that through self-development, the town and region is positioning itself to be ready for bigger growth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
