The First Servant His Worship, the Mayor Hon. Cllr. Phillippus A. Balhao retained his Mayoral seat for the period 2024/25, having served as Mayor for the period 2023/24. The Lüderitz Town Council pursuant to the provisions in the Local Authorities Act 23 of 1992 (as amended), Section 11, Sub-Section 1 (a) read together with Section’s 4 and Section 12, held their annual elections of the Council office bearers on the 11 November 2024 at the Lüderitz Town Council Chambers at 08h30. The elections were presided over by the Senior Magistrate for Lüderitz Vincent Nzaca. The First Servant, His Worship, the Mayor Hon. Cllr. Phillippus A. Balhao said the following during his acceptance speech, “As we reflect on the achievements of the past few years, let us celebrate the progress we’ve made together. We’ve revitalized our local economy, improved essential infrastructure, and strengthened the bonds that unite us as a community” The First Servant added that, ‘looking ahead, we stand on the brink of exciting new opportunities for Lüderitz, as together we can harness the collective energy and creativity of our community to shape a bright and prosperous future for Lüderitz.’ The Councilor’s assumed office after the Local and Regional Authority Elections on the 25 November 2020 and will serve until 2025.
