In compliance with the Section 83 of the Local Authorities Act, 23 of 1992 (as amended), during its Ordinary Council meeting passed the town’s Operational and Capital budget for the Financial Period 2025-2025. The budget has been capped at N$ 276 557 235.20. The provisional budget places focus on planning and surveying of land for the townland expansion, land servicing and the upgrading of the town’s water, electrical, sewer and road infrastructure. The budget further accommodates the digitization, capacity development and the modernization of the Council’s operations, with the further acquisition of an additional vehicle fleet, to replace the current aged vehicles. The budget’s key focus areas are, infrastructure enhancements and social service improvements to accelerate service delivery whilst economic growth and development coupled with environmental sustainability such as the dumpsite rehabilitation are catered for within the financial period. The balanced budget was prepared by both the Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Otto K. Shipanga and the Acting Strategic Executive: Finance Mr. Austin K. Mubiana presented by the Chairperson of the Management Committee Hon. Cllr. Benjamin R. McKay to the Chairperson of Council, the First Servant, His Worship, the Mayor Hon. Cllr. Phillippus A. Balhao. The budget is subject to approval of the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development.
