WESCO GOES THERMAL

WESCO Waste Management (PTY) LTD has commissioned an environmental impact assessment exercise for the establishment of a Thermal Waste Treatment Plant in Lüderitz. The envisaged plant would use revolutionary “Thermal Desorption” which has been independently tested and proven to reduce approximately 70% less carbon emissions. The appointment of the National Environmental Health Consultants CC by WESCO to oversee the screening, scoping, public consultations and appraisal in pursuit of their environmental clearance was signed on the 19th August 2025 in Lüderitz, witnessed by the First Servant, His Worship, the Mayor Hon. Cllr. Phillippus A. Balhao, the Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Otto K. Shipanga, the Managing Director of WESCO Mr. George Fransman and the Chief Executive Officer of the National Environmental Health Consultants CC Mr. Johan Cornelissen. This new development is projected to cost between 40 – 50 million Namibian dollars and create around 40-60 employment opportunities.
