
The development partnership entered into between Lüderitz-Germany and Lüderitz-Namibia in 2014, has culminated into the development of the Smart City Agenda. This agenda is driven by a tripartite alliance comprising of Tangerhütte/Lüderitz-Germany; Leipzig and Lüderitz-Namibia, this alliance aims at embodying an urban guiding vision that will serve as the compass for a city’s future, providing essential direction for sustainable development. The Urban Guiding Vision for Lüderitz 2040 is framed within the wider international, regional, and national agendas that guide sustainable urban development. The mission statement for Lüderitz is aimed at creating a resilient, inclusive and future-proof coastal city that both preserves its historical roots and pursues innovative paths for sustainable development. Lüderitz is positioning itself to become a lighthouse city for quality of life, industrial innovation, ecological balance and cultural diversity in Namibia. The team from Tangerhütte/Lüderitz-Germany and Leipzig are currently in town to workshop the Urban Guiding Vision over the next two days, this workshop is attended by both Councilors’ and Staff.
