The aged municipal infrastructure of the town, in particular its sewer reticulation network is due for an upgrade to keep up with both technological advancements and the growing population of the town. Council awarded CEPM & Partners Engineering (PTY) LTD with a procurement contract to the value of N$ 3 900 000.00 for the upgrade of the sewer reticulation, pump stations and associated works in order to cater for increasing wastewater, whilst the same contract will address sewer related shortcomings such as replacement of sewer pipelines in some areas of town and to allow for further expansion in support of the upcoming industrial initiatives planned for Lüderitz. The contractor will furthermore, evaluate the condition of existing equipment, structures, and facilities and provide recommendations and design solutions for all civil works, electrical works, mechanical works and process to ensure final effluent meets the required standards. The Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr. Otto Shipanga oversaw the signing the of the contract award, post the appointment of the contractor; key staff members undertook site visits all the pump stations for inspections as part of the commencement of works.
