The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Namibia and Angola, His Excellency Mirza Nurhidayat, undertook a working visit to Lüderitz on 17 November 2025, which included a courtesy call to the Lüderitz Town Council. His Excellency was received by the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Otto Shipanga, together with the Technical Team. During the engagement, Council briefed the Ambassador on the town’s urban vision and its townlands expansion strategy, designed to accommodate the anticipated industrial growth and economic development. The Ambassador noted that his visit aims to explore avenues for unlocking economic opportunities between Indonesia and Namibia, particularly in light of the expected trade and infrastructural boom projected for Lüderitz. He further acknowledged that the town’s recent natural resource discoveries have positioned Lüderitz as an attractive hub for future investment. The Indonesian Embassy expressed its intention to strengthen both business and diplomatic ties with the town, with several stakeholder-driven initiatives already being identified for collaboration.
