
On Friday, 6 March 2026, the Lüderitz Town Council entered into a Cooperation Agreement with the municipalities of Tangerhütte and Lüderitz (Germany) under the framework of the bilateral agreement on international cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Namibia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. The agreement provides for the deployment of a Development Advisor to support the Town Council in achieving its strategic objectives, including the development and implementation of a Smart City Roadmap for Lüderitz. In addition, the advisor will introduce and implement innovative tools such as digital twins for land management, enabling the town to better visualize spatial data and make evidence-based decisions for integrated urban development. The signing ceremony was officiated by the Chairperson of the Management Committee, Hon. Cllr. Ockert Theron, assisted by the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Austin K. Mubiana, representing the Lüderitz Town Council, and Mr. Zeno Pack, Project Leader of the GIZ Integrated Urban Development in Lüderitz and Aus Project.
