Global Recycling Day, observed annually on 18 March, serves to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and to promote responsible environmental practices. The 2026 theme, “Don’t Think Waste, Think Opportunity,” highlighted the need to reimagine waste as a resource that can drive sustainable development. In commemoration of this day, a community-based project was launched on Monday, 16 March 2026. The initiative sought to equip participants with practical construction skills, strengthen environmental awareness, and inspire innovative approaches to waste management. The project was successfully implemented and achieved its intended objectives, demonstrating that waste materials can be effectively repurposed into valuable community assets. It also cultivated a strong sense of responsibility and innovation among participants, encouraging ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. This initiative lays a solid foundation for future programmes aimed at expanding recycling efforts to schools, playgrounds, and coastal areas.
