PRIVATE HOSPITAL SOON A NEW REALITY

Posted: 27 Apr 2026

The developers of the proposed Lüderitz Private Hospital are currently in the final stages of conducting business feasibility, demographic, and healthcare market studies. These assessments will inform the final architectural design and layout of the envisaged hospital.

Under the leadership of Dr. Hosea Nghipandulwa, the developers met with Council on 27 April 2026, where they were received in Chambers by the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Otto K. Shipanga, together with his team. During the engagement, the developers briefed Council on their partnership with the Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company (Pty) Ltd, the owners of the land on which the hospital will be constructed and shareholders in the private hospital venture.

The developers further emphasised that local skills and labour will be prioritised during both the construction and operational phases of the hospital. Particular focus will be placed on skills transfer and development, with the intention of ensuring that the community directly benefits from the investment.

The proposed hospital is being developed to strengthen the town’s readiness to meet the anticipated demands arising from the growth of the oil, gas, and green hydrogen sectors. Planning is therefore geared towards creating a future-ready facility that will remain relevant, responsive, and adaptable to the rapid changes expected as Lüderitz continues its transformation into one of Namibia’s key industrial hubs.

The developers indicated that they will return to Council for a further debriefing once the outstanding studies have been finalised.
