Investment Opportunities

windludLuderitz is well equipped to handle investments that will lead to the further development of the town. The town has good infrastructure and is able to provide water, power and other basic services to all residents, industries and new businesses. Financial, telecommunication, logistics, transport and services infrastructure are modern, on par with major cities and reliable.

With its strong winds, Luderitz has attracted interest from overseas energy companies to investigate wind power generation farms to augment the national power grid and the town’s power needs.

Some of the areas in which the Council wishes to attract more investment includes:

  • Aquaculture farming
  • Polytechnic of Namibia Satellite Campus
  • Oil and Gas Exploration
  • Storage facilities Transport and Logistics support services
  • Property Development
  • Private Medical Park
  • Fuel Storage Facility Development
  • More retail, service and hospitality establishments
  • the development of the Agate Beach
  • Desalination plant

Similarly, Council has been in engaged in discussions with central government and other stakeholders to investigate:

  • Access to Sperrgebiet
  • Possible Opening of Chameis Road between Lüderitz & Oranjemund.
  • Railway line Connection to the rest of Namibia & Northern Cape.
  • Development of 2nd Port at Angra Point ( Industrial Port).
  • Lüderitz Waterfront Sea-view Shopping Complex and residential development.
  • 10MW Wind Generation Plant Project.
