His Worship, the Mayor Hon. Cllr. B. Mckay engaged the residents of the Helping Hands Old Age Home in Nautilus, to familiarize himself with the conditions of the home and engaged the Pensioners on issues of their concern to internalize how best the Office of the Mayor and the Lüderitz Town Council can serve them. The Helping Hands Old Age Home was set-up in 1979 by young people seeking to make a difference in society and found a group of displaced pensioners; leading to the establishment of this Old Age Home.
