The pursuit of creating an environment that is complimentary towards assisting the youth in their dreams of athletic prowess, was the driving force leading the Lüderitz Mayoral Fund Trust in funding the fabrication of soccer goal posts. The funding objectives were to enhance the sports environment and the promotion of sporting activities, furthermore to contribute significantly in the development of social skills amongst the youth. Team sports teaches the youth to cooperate, be less selfish, and enhances listening skills. It also gives children a sense of belonging, sports help the youth to make new friends and to build their social circle outside school. The soccer goal posts were designed by Hon. Cllr. Benjamin Mckay and fabricated by Mr. Pieta Simau.
