The empowerment of communities through the creation of opportunities, should not be limited towards a particular community only, yet these opportunities should be wide spread to other parts of the country; for equal access and shared prospects. The Swakopmund born professional soccer player Mr. Deon Hotto has looked beyond the mountains of his hometown of Swakopmund to establish the presence of the Deon Hotto Foundation in Lüderitz. The Chairman of the Foundation Mr. Carl Pesat sat down with the First Servant, His Worship, the Mayor Hon. Cllr. Phillippus A. Balhao on the 02 February 2024 in Lüderitz, with the aim of cementing a partnership that will address the lack of adequate soccer facilities and create a network for grassroots soccer academies. The parties agreed to further deliberations to strengthen their areas of cooperation, with the aim of entering into a working relationship for the realization of the Foundation’s aspirations, that are aligned towards Council’s community development objectives.
