INTERNATIONAL INVESTOR KEEN ON LOCAL CONTENT

The growth prospects of Lüderitz in particular pertaining the oil and gas sector’s anticipated contributions to the local and national economy, has enticed a multinational giant to the shores of our town. Axess an entity operational for the past 25 years, with 22 countries worldwide actively participating within the Angolan oil sector, where they operate 11 out of the 15 fixed production platforms; representatives met up with the Chairperson of Council and the First Servant His Worship, the Mayor Hon. Cllr. Phillippus Balhao on the 25 April 2024 in Lüderitz at the Council Headquarters. The team from Axess lead by Mr. Alex Owen engaged the Mayor on identifying possible areas of cooperation, where the nationalization of their workforce and operations enjoyed priority during their deliberations. The company is desirous in training local talent through a bursary scheme, empowering these individuals to take up employment opportunities within the next few years, furthermore they shared the ambitions of ploughing back into the community through various Corporate Social Investment initiatives targeting schools and the youth. The First Servant indicated to the investors that, Lüderitz is pregnant with opportunities and that this, is the right time to invest; with Council currently crafting a long-term growth strategy for the town that will witness the port and townland expansion inclusive of catering for multi-sectoral industries.
