CITY OF ROTTERDAM EYES LÜDERITZ PARTNERSHIP

The exchange of knowledge and skills between the Ports of Rotterdam and Lüderitz was top of the agenda during the working visit to the Lüderitz Town Council on the 07 May 2024. The Honorary Consulate Servaas van den Bosch from The Kingdom of Netherlands and the Mayor of Rotterdam, His Worship, Ahmed Aboutaleb in the company of the Chief Executive Officer Mr. Andrew Kanime form the Namibian Port Authority and HYPHEN, held a meeting with The First Servant, His Worship Hon. Cllr. Phillippus A. Balhao and Council administration to discuss mechanisms through which the two towns can collaborate, to be capacitated for the exportation of Hydrogen from the Port of Lüderitz to its importation at the Port of Rotterdam. The Port of Rotterdam is the largest of kind within the Northern Hemisphere and the City of Rotterdam generates Eighty Million Euros annually through dividend’s, as it has shares within the port; the two City Councils aim at entering into a formal memorandum of understanding as the town of Lüderitz is preparing itself for the port expansion. The working visit concluded with a site visit to Angra Point, where the new port will be constructed to cater for the exportation of Green Hydrogen.
